Holiness, as one see, is not seperated from practical everyday living. A servant og God must first realize that he no longer lives for himself, at the beck and call of his base and sinful desires, but as one created and called by God for rightful living. Truth of the matter is, holiness will actually make you more peaceful within, better adjusted, a more useful personhere on earth, and not the other way around way around, as indicated by Apostle Paul: “Actually all of us were like them and lived according to our natural desires, doing whatever suited the wishes of our own bodies and minds. In our natural condition we, like everyone else, were destined to suffer God’s anger… in the past you were spiritually dead because of your disobedience and sins. At that time you followed the world’s evil way; you obeyed the ruler of the spiritual powers in space, the spirit who now controls the people who disobey God”(Eph. 2:3,1-2, Ibid.). God’s servants at one time habitually followed the course and fashion of this world, went along with the crowd, obeyed the impulses of the flesh and cravings destined to suffer God’s anger just like everyone else. But Jesus’ unblemished sacrifice—willingly giving Himself to God to die for their sins— purified their consciences fromuseless rituals and made them worthy to serve the living God: “Since this is true , how much more is accomplished by the blood of Christ! Through the eternal Spirit he offered himself as a perfect sacrifice to God. His blood will purify our consciences from useless rituals, so that we may serve the living God.. Indeed, according to the Law almost everything is purified by blood, and sins are forgiven only if blood is poured out” (Heb. 9:14,22 Ibid.)

GIVE THE BITTERNESS OF THAT MEMORY TO JESUS Why should you carry the burden of a memory which scars, when Jesus already died for the very burden you are trying to carry? It simply is not your responsibility. Often I have asked people, “If you understand that God has forgiven you, what right do you think you have not to forgive yourself? Are you greater than He?” They usually smile and say, “I see how ridiculous it is. “It is because you care that you punish yourself. But, your failing to forgive yourself robs you of peace of mind. It destroys your ability to function properly, and certainly saps you of spiritual vitality. It is a burden which God doesn’t want you to bear, and in a very real sense renders what Christ did of no effect because you are bearing the guilt of your failure— He bore that long ago! First— in your mind’s eye picture Jesus hanging on the cross with all the suffering and loneliness. It is not a very pleasant picture. Recall from the Gospels that an inscription was placed on the cross which didn’t make the Jews very happy. It read, This is Jesus, the King of the jews,” and it was written in Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic. This was part of the crucifixion ritual instituted by the Romans. The Romans had a custom of writing the crime of the person being executed on parchment or papyrus and placing it on the cross so all who passed by would know the reason for this crucifixion. Completing the piccture, visualize the memory that burns, the sin or deed which troubles you, as written on a piece of parchment and affixed to the cross. Then imagine the blood which flowed from His wounds covering that writing until it is forever obliterated. This very analogy was made by Paul when he wrote to the Colossians, When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcion off your sinful nature, God made you alive in Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having cancelled the written code, with its regulations, that was agaisnt us and that stood opposed to us; He took it away, nailing it to the cross. Colossians 2:13-14 NIV To help you get rid of bitterness which burns your soul, sit down and write out in detail the memory which disturbs you. Write out in detail the memory which disturbs you. Write out the sordid details on longhand, but do it in private. Now take the memorandum and crumple it up in a ball; and in your mind’s eye, picture Jesus as He stands before you. Imagine the nail-scarred hands taking the memorandum so that you will never face it again, and as you do, this literally gives the memory to Him. It may help to burn the paper you have written, and as the flames lick it up remind yourself that you, as a conscious act of the will, are giving that memory to Jesus, and then, leave it in His hands. 6 REFUSE TO LET YOUR MIND DWELL ON THE MEMORY Some folks live with constant bitterness and heartache because they cling to the shattered fragments of a life that went to pieces. At every opportunity (and if one does’nt come up, they’ll make one) they tell their story until their friends no longer want to hear it eventually avoid them. Loneliness compounds the hurt. If God has forgiven you, and you have forgiven yourself, and forgiven those who may have hurt you, refuse to let your mind dwell on the matter. Satan often defeats us bringing to our minds things which have been forgiven and must be forgotten.
